Welcome to the Lewis-Palmer High School Counseling Web Page


The information here is designed to help support students and parents through the high school years. The mission of the LPHS Counseling Department is to prepare ALL students to be college/career ready by planning a meaningful course of study, assisting students to academically achieve, and helping them grow and develop as lifelong learners. 

Our Counselor caseloads are alphabetical by the student's last names.

Each student is supported in:

Academics - To acquire academic behaviors and strategies for success in key content areas with emphasis on writing skills, reading skills, and mathematical concepts.

College/Career Plans - To develop post secondary goals, to create a yearly action plan, and to understand college entrance requirements and costs.

Personal/Social Growth - To gain knowledge and develop interpersonal skills, and to understand and respect oneself and others.

Counseling Announcements
Attention Juniors! Are you nervous about the application process for college? Are you looking for some guidance on how to get started and what to prepare for? Well you are in luck! You’re LPHS counseling team is here to help! Counselors will be offering “Lunch with the Counselor” college admissions preparation sessions on April 21st and 22nd during both lunches. Grab a friend, bring your lunch and hang out with a counselor to start planning your future! Topics to be discussed will be How to Create Your College List, College/Campus Tours Preparation and Checklist and Breaking Down the College Admission Process (Preparing, Researching, Deciding, Applying).

Counselors will also answer any other questions you have about the process at this point! These sessions will be limited to 10 students each and are on a first come first serve basis. You can sign up for a slot with Mrs. Armbruster in Student Services. We look forward to seeing you!

Before long, many seniors will be finding out about college scholarships and other private scholarships they have been awarded. Every year LP honors these scholarship recipients in our Senior Spotlight display, located at the door into Student Services and at our Senior Awards night during graduation week. To ensure that you are properly recognized, please complete the form
"Senior Spotlight" at the bottom of this page and return it to Mrs. Sciacca in Student Services no later than
May 8th, 2015. When you return this form you will be included in the Senior Spotlight in Student Services and you will be invited to the Senior Awards Night on May 18th, 2015.

Please include a wallet sized photo for the Senior Spotlight.


Prep For ACT Seminar

Sycamore Learning Company will be providing "Prep for the Future" ACT Seminar at LPHS on March 30th and 31st from 3:15-5:45pm. The cost is $79 for the seminar which includes an extensive study guide that has 3 full-length practice tests and in-depth answer explanations. The seminar also includes:
  • A presentation full of tips and strategies that help students achieve their highest possible scores.
  • A special focus on the Math and Science sections for the ACT.
  • Detailed explanation on how to write the essay portion of the test.
  • Highly-rated and experienced presenter conducting the seminar.
  • College scholarship opportunities available to students who attend the seminar.
  • All offered in a 5-hour seminar that is efficient, affordable and fun for the students.

To register for the seminar, please go to www.prepforthefuture.com . Payment can be made online or your student can bring a check payable to Sycamore Learning Company to the seminar.

PPCC Days at Lewis Palmer HS
SENIORS!!!! If you are planning to apply to PPCC next year there are a few important events that you will want to attend!

  • PPCC Application Day MAR 18 1:30pm
PPCC admissions counselors will be here to assist interested students with their applications. Seniors must sign-up ahead of time in Student Services.

  • PPCC Registration Day APR 21 By appointment throughout the day.
PPCC admissions counselors will be here to meet with students one-on-one to help them register for their Fall classes. These sessions will be 30 min. appointments that students must sign-up for ahead of time in Student Services. Students will leave w/ a printed copy of their Fall PPCC schedule.

This will be a great opportunity for students to receive individualized help in applying to PPCC and registering for their Fall classes. We will be sending out information blasts as these dates approach but thought that you would have students that you might want to direct toward these dates. Again, students must sign up ahead of time and there is a PPCC form that they will need to complete prior to the Application Day.

Cosmetology Information Night
Attention all interested 1st year and returning 2nd year Cosmetology students and Parents!
The International Salon and Spa Academy (ISSA) will be holding their AVP Parent Night on Wednesday March 11th, 2015 from 6:00-7:30p. This informational night will be at the ISSA campus at 5707 North Academy Blvd, Colorado Springs 80918. Students and Parents must attend this meeting as it is a requirement of the application process for the Cosmetology program. If you have any questions please contact Mrs. Githens at LPHS 867-8007 or Ms. Penny at ISSA 597-1413 ext. 1006.


ATTENTION 10th and 11th Grade Students!! Students interested in participating in the Area Vocational Program next year should sign up to attend one of the two upcoming visit days. This year’s AVP visit days are Friday, January 23rd and Friday, January 30th . A limited number of seats are available on each day, so please stop by Student Services ASAP to collect a parent permission slip if you are interested in attending. Permission slips are available through Mrs. Armbruster in Student Services and must be returned before 3pm on Thursday, January 22nd!! Specific questions regarding the Area Vocational Program can be directed to Mrs. Githens. Attendance at one of the Visit Days is a requirement to apply for the program.

We would like to congratulate Sophomore Katelyn Miller for being selected as Lewis Palmer High School's HOBY Leadership Seminar representative!!!!

State and local scholarship opportunities are continually being updated through Naviance. Log into your Naviance account, click on the Colleges tab, go under the Scholarships and Money tab and click on "Scholarship List". Here you will find an updated list of available scholarships you can apply for.

If you have any other questions or concerns feel free to ask your counselor in the Student Services department.

College Bound?

Keep up to date with when College Representatives will be at LPHS. Log into your Naviance account, under Colleges and find a cumulative list of which colleges are coming and when. Click on the sign up tab and print off your registration confirmation and bring it to school that day and have your teacher sign it to get you out of class. Take advantage of this opportunity to learn more about different schools without leaving the building

Make sure you log into your Naviance account to sign up and find out what other colleges are scheduled to visit. Contact your counselor if you are having problems logging into your Naviance account.
SENIORS, October is College Application Month! It is important to start the College Application Process NOW.
It is never too early to start exploring post-secondary opportunities. Sign up to meet a College Admissions Representative and gain a better understanding of what you should be doing NOW to increase your chances for success later!

Important Transcript Information!!

SENIORS! Please follow the steps below when ordering your transcripts for colleges:

1. See Mrs. Sciacca, School Registrar, after you have completed your college or scholarship applications.
2. Pay $3.00 for each official transcript, allowing a minimum of 48 hours for the work order to be completed.
3. Bring Mrs. Sciacca the SENDEDU FORM for electronic submissions of your transcript and school profile; OR bring the completed mailing address for where you would like the transcript sent.
